How to Change Your Wakey Pure Fibre Wi-Fi Name & Password

Make Your Wi-Fi Feel a Little More Like Home

Your Wakey Pure Fibre service includes a pre-configured Wi-Fi network so you can get connected quickly. Your default Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password can be found on the label attached to your router or fibre equipment.

Want something a little easier to remember? You can personalize your Wi-Fi name and password using the steps below.

Before You Begin

Have the following handy:

  • A phone, tablet or computer connected to your Wakey Wi-Fi
  • Your Pure Fibre router
  • The administrator credentials printed on your equipment label

Changing your Wi-Fi name or password will temporarily disconnect your wireless devices. You’ll need to reconnect them using the new Wi-Fi information afterwards.

Step 1 — Connect to Your Wakey Wi-Fi

Using a phone, tablet or computer, connect to your existing Wakey Pure Fibre Wi-Fi network.

If you’re using the original settings, the default Wi-Fi information can be found on the label attached to your equipment.

Step 2 — Open Your Router Settings

Router Login

Open a web browser and enter:

http://192.168.1.254

Sign in using the administrator credentials printed on your equipment label.

Step 3 — Find Your Wi-Fi Settings

Once logged in, navigate to the Wi-Fi or Wireless Settings section.

You should see settings for your:

  • Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID)
  • Wi-Fi Password

Step 4 — Choose Your New Wi-Fi Name & Password

Make It Yours

Enter the new Wi-Fi name and password you’d like to use.

A few tips:

  • Choose a Wi-Fi name that’s easy for you to recognize.
  • Use a strong password that isn’t easily guessed.
  • Avoid putting personal information such as your address in the Wi-Fi name.

If you reuse your previous Wi-Fi name and password exactly, some of your existing devices may reconnect automatically.

Step 5 — Save Your Changes

Select Save or Apply.

Your router may take up to a minute to apply the new settings. Your phone, tablet or computer may disconnect from Wi-Fi while this happens.

Don’t Forget to Reconnect Your Devices

If you changed your Wi-Fi name or password, devices using the old information will need to be connected again.

This may include:

  • Phones and tablets
  • Computers
  • Smart TVs and streaming devices
  • Gaming consoles
  • Printers
  • Smart-home devices
  • Security cameras

Select your new Wi-Fi network on each device and enter your new password.

Forgot Your Wi-Fi Password?

If you’ve never changed your Wi-Fi information, check the label attached to your router or fibre equipment. The original Wi-Fi name and password should be printed there.

If you previously changed the password and no longer remember it, first check whether you have another device that is still connected or whether you can access the router settings using an Ethernet connection.

Factory Reset — Last Resort

If you cannot recover your Wi-Fi or router settings, a factory reset may be required.

A factory reset erases your customized router settings.

  1. Locate the recessed RESET button on the router.
  2. Using a paper clip or pin, press and hold RESET for approximately 45–60 seconds.
  3. Release the button.
  4. Allow approximately 5–10 minutes for the router to fully restart.

After the reset, your Wi-Fi settings should return to the defaults printed on the equipment label.

Only perform a factory reset when necessary. A normal restart does not erase your settings.
