Yes — all modems offered by Wakey Internet effectively operate in bridge mode by default.
This is because Wakey does not provide modem/router combo units. We only offer standalone cable modems, which are designed to pass your internet connection directly to a router that is provided separately by Wakey or your own router.
What Is Bridge Mode?
Bridge mode is a setting commonly found on modem/router combo devices. When enabled, it disables the router functions (Wi-Fi, firewall, DHCP) and allows you to use your own router instead.
In simple terms:
-
Bridge mode turns a combo device into a modem only.
Why Wakey Customers Don’t Need Bridge Mode
Since Wakey only provides pure cable modems, there is no routing, Wi-Fi, or NAT built into the device.
That means:
-
No double NAT
-
No Wi-Fi conflicts
-
No bridge mode setting required
-
Full compatibility with any third-party router or firewall
Your router will automatically receive the public IP address from the modem.
Modems Offered by Wakey
All modems that Wakey ships to customers are bridge-only by design. A list of modems we offer can be found → HERE.
These devices do not broadcast Wi-Fi, do not assign local IPs, and do not perform routing functions.
Do I Need to Enable Bridge Mode Manually?
No. There is no bridge mode setting to enable or disable on Wakey modems — they already function as a bridge.
If you previously used a modem/router combo with another ISP, this is often where the confusion comes from.
Troubleshooting Tip
If your router is not receiving an IP address:
-
Power-cycle the modem first
-
Then reboot your router
-
Ensure only one device is connected directly to the modem
